Recently we receive an inquiry from a manager about consumers who do not have an emergency contact or next of kin and how to enter this information into AWARDS. Emergency contact or next of kin contact information is located in the profile module under contacts. Census>Profile>Face Sheet>Choose Consumer>Scroll down to "Current Contacts Info:" Upon review and consideration, all future/existing consumers should have a Next of Kin and Emergency Contact information entered into AWARDS. If a consumer doesn't have a next of kin and/or emergency contact enter "NONE" in the first AND last name fields. These fields should be completed/review at the time of admission to eliminate any confusion among staff members. If this field is blank one may think information was never entered OR one may think since the field is blank no emergency or next of kin exists when actually there is a contact person.
