Driver Safety Training 2017

posted Aug 15, 2017, 10:03 AM by Wasiewicz, Mark   [ updated Aug 15, 2017, 10:18 AM ]

At home or the workplace everyone realizes that driving is an important responsibility. Most people agree that unsafe driving can have serious consequences.  Each year STEL employees log hundreds of hours and thousands of miles on the road; transporting our consumers to various destinations in our communities. It is our responsibility to ensure that our consumers and staff members arrive safely to each and every destination.

We will be conducting  Driver Safety Classes for all staff members who have not successfully taken the Driver Safety Class prior to December 31, 2014. This training is required for all staff members who drive as part of their job duties and responsibilities. This includes all of our Residential/Housing Care Services, Work Force, Catt. County Case Management, Compeer, Maintenance, and Administrative staff. Therefore, staff members who were certified after January 1, 2015 should not enroll in this session.

Please use the form below to register for this training.

 Good News!

This year STEL will pay for staff members’ insurance certificates (over $35 value). Unfortunately, do to class size restrictions we will NOT be able to  extend an invitation to employee's spouses and other household members to take this course. However JCC does offer classes to the community throughout the year. Please check JCC website for dates and times.

The Defensive Driving Certificate is valid for three years and will provide up to 10% discount on your auto insurance and 4 points off your license.

NYS Paid Family Medical Leave Payroll Deduction

posted Jul 6, 2017, 12:57 PM by Wasiewicz, Mark   [ updated Jul 6, 2017, 12:57 PM ]

We just want to inform everyone effective July 1, 2017 New York State authorized employers to begin payroll deductions from employees' paychecks for the new New York State Paid Family Leave benefits which is effective January 1, 2018. The deductions made now will pay for the mandated insurance premiums to be paid in the near future.

The amount of the employee deduction varies by how much you're paid in a given pay period. The deduction rate is .126% (or .001263) of your earnings. The maximum amount taken from your pay check will be $85.80/year. This rate is set by the New York State Division of Insurance and may increase over time.

As New York State finalizes the Paid Family Leave regulations over the next several weeks we will establish our policy about this leave benefit. We expect to have our policy in place by December 1st.

For additional information, please see

If you should have any questions about this matter, please contact me 716-366-7792 x 212.
